FoodSavvy is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our iOS app.
1. Information We Collect
Menu Photos Photos you take or select are sent to our servers for AI translation processing and deleted immediately after. They are not retained. Translation results are stored only on your device and are not uploaded to our servers.
Account Information If you choose to sign in, we collect your name, email address, and profile picture via Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In to identify your account and provide the service.
Usage Data We collect translation counts, your chosen display language, and general usage patterns to enforce plan limits and improve the service.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Translation Service: Menu photos are sent to an AI translation service, processed, then immediately deleted. Results are returned to your device.
- Account Management: To authenticate your identity, maintain your login state, and manage translation usage counts.
- Plan Enforcement: To track translation usage and apply free plan limits and Premium subscription benefits.
- Service Improvement: Aggregated, anonymized data helps us improve the app experience.
3. Third-Party Services
Google Gemini API Menu photos are sent to Google’s Gemini API for AI translation. Photos are used only to provide the translation response and are not used for training purposes. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
RevenueCat Used to manage in-app purchases and subscription status. See RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.
Apple Sign-In and Google Sign-In Authentication services that provide verified user identifiers and basic profile information. See Apple’s Privacy Policy and Google’s Privacy Policy.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account information and translation usage records while your account is active. Upon account deletion, we permanently delete your personal data within 30 days. Translated menu content is stored only on your device; if you delete the app or clear app data, this content cannot be recovered.
5. Children’s Privacy
FoodSavvy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
6. Your Data Rights
- Access and Correction: View and update your account information in app settings.
- Deletion: Delete your account at any time through app settings; all personal data will be permanently removed within 30 days.
- Data Portability: Contact us to request an export of your account data.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to our service or applicable regulations. For significant changes, we will notify you through an in-app notification. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
